Isabelle b. May 1912; m(1) 23 APril 1928 Patrick Gagnon at Caribou, Aroostock, Maine; m(2) Edmund Langlois; d.         at Colony House, Abington, Plymouth, MA
Before Isabelle died at the age of 98 years she told me a few stories about her childhood in Maine. One that stands out occurred during the flu epidemic. Isabelle was close to ber brother, Baptiste. When the flu swept through communities Baptiste was one of the local casualties in Van Buren. He had always suffered from asthma.
Isabelle was sent by her mother to the local church to let the priest know of her brother's passing. It was evening and since there were no street lights, she had to navigate down the road with only the stars to light the way. As she neared the graveyard, she heard a noise. It grew louder as she apporached. Fearing the worst, Isabelle grabbed some stones and proceeded to fling them toward the noise.
She suddenly heard a great howl and then the groaning of a man. Isabelle had hit her target, for she had tossed her stones at the local grave digger, who was working late.
Isabelle also spent a few years living in Caribou, Aroostock, ME at the home of her Aunt Lucy. Lucy had married a wealthy man but never had children of her own. So she invited Isabelle to live with her. The new residence led to her meeting Patrick Gagnon.
