George Vaughan was in Scituate, Plymouth, MA in 1656. In 1663, the family was in Marshfield, Plymouth, MA He was fined that year for not attending public worship. 1 June 1669, William Crow and George Vaughan, with John Tomson and William Nelson, were appointed commissioners to lay the line between the "Namasket Mens Land" called the Major's Purchase, and the towns of Marshfield, Duxbury , and Bridgewater. In 1669 George Vaughan was licensed to keep an Ordinary in Middleboro, Plymouth, MA; being the first person in Middleboro to do so. On 5 July 1670, the General Court conferred twelve acres of land in the Major's Purchase on the south side of Nemasket River, whi had not been recorded and which was ordered a that time to be recorded. In 1671, he and John Morton were appointed by the Court of Commissioners to view damages done to the Indians by the horses and hogs of the English. He was constable in 1675 and bought part of the land in the Tweny-six Men's Purchase, and he was in the garrison at the time the war broke out. George died in 1694 and his will dated 30 June 1694 was proved 10 November 1694 gives to son, Daniel, to daughter, Mary Washburn, to son, Joseph, to daughter, Elizabeth Howland, to daughter, Mercy Due. Eldest Joseph Administrator. The inventory was taken by Samuel Wood and John Bennett. His property amounted to forty-three pounds, wight shillings, and four pence.

Joseph was one of the selectmen of Middleboro, Plymouth, MA. He was first eelcted to the office in 1689 and continued in service for twenty-five years. He also commanded a guard for all of the local militia of the town of Middleboro. He was ensign in 1706 and lieutenant in 1712,
He lived in a home, that was once owned by Captain Nathaniel Wilder. He own a lot of land in Middleboro and was an owner in he Sixteen Shilling Purchse.
