      John came in the Defence in 1635 with Edward Bostock, Master. She sailed from London and arrived at Boston, Suffolk, MA on 8 October 1635.  He is listed as “wholesale man in Burchen Lane,” His first wife's name is no known but he had two daughters and a son. He first came to Cambridge, Middlesex, MA.  John was made a freeman between 2 June 1641 to 10 May 1643, the latter being the more preferred date. In the Newton records Margaret is listed as his second wife. In 1639 he bought the estate of Miles Ives. He was a deacon. He died 30 June 1675, aged 72 years.
